Helen Ginsburg, Founder and President Emeritus
AWARE - Alzheimer’s Women’s Auxiliary for Research and Educationu - was founded in 1997 with the passion of Helen Ginsburg in memory of her mother, Lillian B. Tucker.
Together with the dedication of the nineteen women she invited to a meeting in her living room, AWARE was founded as a prevention research fundraising support group for the Alzheimer’s Association of Colorado, and grew to be one of the largest auxiliary organizations in Denver.
Helen, a dynamic and creative visionary, is a long-time community activist. She is a published author, a juried artist and the recipient of numerous awards, both local and national, in honor of her volunteerism and leadership.
Helen is Founder and President of the Babi Yar Foundation and the Founding Chair of the Alzheimer’s Memory Grove and Garden at Stapleton Park. She was sworn in by the late Tip O’Neill, Speaker of the House, as Advisory Board Member to the President’s Commission on the Holocaust, and her current focus is to be a catalyst for start-up AWARE auxiliaries throughout the country.
The entire AWARE Membership is delighted to have Helen Ginsburg as our Founder, our President Emeritus, and our friend. Along with her wonderful husband, Morris, Helen personifies the caring, commitment and generosity that allow organizations like AWARE to exist and succeed.
